The beginning
Acqua di Parma, established in Parma in 1916, has spent decades perfecting the art of understated Italian luxury. In 2008 the house called upon François Demachy to create a modern feminine portrait representing Italian savoir-vivre. Rather than chasing trends, Demachy returned to foundational elements: sun-kissed bergamot from the Mediterranean, exotic ylang-ylang for lush floral richness, and the delicate freshness of peony to set an inviting stage.
Each note layer serves a deliberate purpose in Profumo's architecture. The bergamot-ylang-ylang-peony opening captures Mediterranean brightness before introducing exotic florals. The jasmine-amber-labdanum heart balances opulence with warmth, while oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, and vetiver create a base that honors classic feminine perfumery while feeling contemporary.
