The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Rising Mysore 3 arrives as the final chapter. Dixit & Zak built Rising Mysore from a single question: what happens when you take Mysore sandalwood, centuries of olfactory history, and let it argue with modern spice? Rising Mysore 3 resolves it. Nitish Dixit and Zakir Laskar designed this as a direct, deep connection, one last statement from a house that has learned how to make complexity feel effortless. One final time, and no further encores.
The note structure is where Rising Mysore 3 earns its final-chapter designation. The Orris root appears here for the first time in the series, adding a powdery iris softness that rounds the edges of the warmer materials. The citrus layer, Holy Basil, Hathkora Lime, Lavender, Jasmine, creates what the brand calls a zestful opening, but it's the balance that matters: the citrus doesn't dominate, it orchestrates. It opens the door so the spices and florals can enter without crowding.
The evolution
Rising Mysore 3 opens bright and a little startling, Holy Basil hits first, green and camphoraceous, before the Key Lime and Lemon arrive to soften the edges. The first thirty minutes feel like standing in a spice market at dawn, everything fresh and slightly overwhelming. Then the jasmine, tuberose, and ylang-ylang emerge, pulling the fragrance toward warmth instead of sharpness. The sandalwood doesn't announce itself, it arrives around hour two, creamy and quiet beneath the florals. By hour four, the frankincense and myrrh have settled into a resinous whisper, the vanilla absolute adding just enough sweetness to keep it from going dry. What lingers is the orris-patchouli combination: powdery, earthy, close to skin. Not a room-filler. A conversation-starter at arm's length.
Cultural impact
Rising Mysore 3 brings Mysore's aromatic heritage to a wider audience. Dixit & Zak, co-founded by Nitish Dixit and Zakir Laskar, built their house on regional botanical traditions. Laskar's family has operated an oud distillery for four generations, informing the brand's nuanced approach to scent creation. Rising Mysore 3 features a scent profile that draws from native botanical traditions while incorporating complementary notes from outside the region. The perfume incorporates native ingredients like Mysore sandalwood and oud, balanced with carefully selected complementary notes to create an intricate, layered sensory experience.
