The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Balpear was composed by Csaba Bálint. The name points plainly to pear, and the composition places that fruit inside a broader woody-spicy frame rather than treating it as a simple fresh-fruit scent. Pear Leaf, Pear, Clary Sage, Bergamot, and Cardamom establish the first impression, while Mahogany, Oud, Cedar, Iris, Saffron, and Caraway pull the idea toward something darker and more composed. The opening is green and gently tart, with the leafy pear accord giving way to the rounder, juicier impression of the fruit. Clary sage adds a cool herbal softness, bergamot lends brightness without overwhelming the pear, and cardamom introduces a lightly spiced lift.
Pear and pear leaf create a useful tension here. One suggests crushed fruit, green skin, and orchard air; the other keeps that sweetness connected to leaves and stems. Clary Sage and cardamom add a herbal, aromatic edge, while bergamot brings citrus brightness without turning the composition into a conventional fresh fragrance. The heart is where the balance becomes more distinctive. Iris gives a cool, powdery texture, saffron introduces spice, and oud, mahogany, and cedar lend darker structural weight. Caraway adds another aromatic note, keeping the composition from settling into a predictable fruit-and-woods formula.
The evolution
The opening begins with movement: pear leaf, ripe pear, clary sage, bergamot, and cardamom create a green, fruity brightness with a cool herbal edge. That first impression feels airy but not weightless, with bergamot adding a clean lift and cardamom giving the fruit a lightly aromatic spice. As the heart arrives, iris cools the fruit while saffron brings a dry, metallic warmth. Mahogany, oud, cedar, and caraway deepen the composition, turning the orchard brightness into polished wood and spice. The base gathers into a warmer, earthier trail, with the darker woody accord softened by musk, sandalwood, and tonka bean. The tonal balance keeps the drydown from becoming severe, while tonka bean adds a gentle sweetness that sits comfortably beneath the woods. On skin, Balpear wears from a lively green-fruited opening into a drier, more textured middle.
Cultural impact
Balpear suits the wearer who treats fragrance as a recurring ritual: present, quietly distinctive, and more likely to become a familiar chapter than a loud declaration. Its pear accord offers a clear point of entry into a broader woody-spicy language, beginning with green fruit and cooling herbs before moving toward iris, saffron, and darker woods. The composition rewards attention without forcing its character, moving from a bright, crisp opening into a warm, textured drydown.
The House
Balint ParfumsBalint Parfums is a Serbian perfume house rooted in the quiet village of Kanjiza. Founded by perfumer Csaba Balint, the label debuted with Balifleur in 2018 and has since built a catalogue that reads like a seasonal diary. Each year the house adds a cluster of scents—Balvanil, Balpear, Balelder, Baloak and Balirose arrived in 2024, while 2025 saw the launch of BALGRIS, BALCACTUS, BALMER, BALYVER and BALROUGE. The brand balances a modest workshop ethos with a steady output of new compositions, offering collectors a sense of discovery without the flash of larger houses. Its fragrance line is marked by the “BAL” prefix, a subtle signature that ties the releases together while each bottle tells its own story.
The Creator
Csaba BálintCsaba favors a linear construction that lets each note speak before the next arrives. He often begins with a crisp citrus or green top, then introduces a heart of floral or aromatic herbs, and grounds the piece with a subtle woody or resinous base.
