The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
BALMER was composed by Csaba Bálint and launched in 2025. Its inspiration isn't wrapped in a formal backstory. The note pyramid carries the idea directly: immortelle and bergamot lift into aquatic notes, seaweed, fig, coconut and fennel, while ambergris, white musk, balsam fir and cypress give the composition a mineral, quietly woody finish. Sea air carries salt and freshness, fig brings a soft fruitiness, coconut adds creamy contrast, and fennel introduces that green, lightly aniseed edge that keeps the marine theme from becoming too smooth. As the scent settles, the bright opening gives way to a more tactile blend of mineral depth, smooth musk and dry woods.
What makes BALMER interesting is the tension between exposure and comfort. Aquatic notes and seaweed suggest wind, spray and exposed skin, but fig and coconut bring a rounded, almost sunlit quality. Fennel cuts across that softness with an aromatic herbal note. Down below, ambergris gives the water a mineral depth, while white musk, balsam fir and cypress replace the immediate splash with dry woods. Over time, the brighter aquatic impression softens, leaving a close, gently textured combination of skin warmth, smooth musk and aromatic wood.
The evolution
The opening begins with a brisk meeting between immortelle and bergamot, bright citrus cutting through a cool marine haze. Early on, the scent feels exposed and bracing, like standing where damp stone meets salt air. The heart then widens: seaweed and aquatic notes establish the water, fig adds tender fruit, coconut brings creamy warmth, and fennel places a green, faintly aniseed note among them. As the hours pass, the bright edge softens without disappearing. Ambergris develops a mineral warmth, white musk settles close to the skin, and balsam fir and cypress leave a dry woody trail. By the later drydown, the composition feels less like the shoreline and more like salt caught in sunlit fabric, with woods lingering at moderate distance.
Cultural impact
BALMER suits the fragrance-lover who treats scent as a personal ritual rather than a demand for attention. Its aromatic aquatic character feels wearable and close to the body, drawing the wearer into notes that shift from fresh and saline to soft fruit, creamy coconut, green fennel and mineral ambergris. The composition invites exploration through its contrasts: bright citrus and immortelle against deeper woods, with white musk adding a smooth, intimate layer as the fragrance develops.
The House
Balint ParfumsBalint Parfums is a Serbian perfume house rooted in the quiet village of Kanjiza. Founded by perfumer Csaba Balint, the label debuted with Balifleur in 2018 and has since built a catalogue that reads like a seasonal diary. Each year the house adds a cluster of scents—Balvanil, Balpear, Balelder, Baloak and Balirose arrived in 2024, while 2025 saw the launch of BALGRIS, BALCACTUS, BALMER, BALYVER and BALROUGE. The brand balances a modest workshop ethos with a steady output of new compositions, offering collectors a sense of discovery without the flash of larger houses. Its fragrance line is marked by the “BAL” prefix, a subtle signature that ties the releases together while each bottle tells its own story.
The Creator
Csaba BálintCsaba favors a linear construction that lets each note speak before the next arrives. He often begins with a crisp citrus or green top, then introduces a heart of floral or aromatic herbs, and grounds the piece with a subtle woody or resinous base.
