The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
BALFIG arrived in 2025, composed by Csaba Bálint as a fruity-woody fragrance for women and men. Its name points plainly to fig, the scent at the heart of the composition, while the supporting notes widen that idea into a full seasonal picture. Bergamot, orange, ginger, and clary sage create a bright opening. Fig leaf and pineapple bring fruit and greenery forward, then ambergris, white musk, cistus, vanilla, sandalwood, and cashmeran give the result a warm, quietly polished base.
The interesting part is the handoff between fruit and texture. Fig and pineapple carry the composition's juicy center, while fig leaf keeps it from becoming simply dessert-like. Ambergris, labdanum, and white musk lend a soft skin-warm dimension, and vanilla, sandalwood, and cashmeran give the drydown enough structure to remain composed. The result is sweet without turning sugary, fresh without feeling thin.
The evolution
The first impression is quick and citrus-led, with bergamot, orange, ginger, and clary sage cutting through cleanly. As that brightness settles, fig leaf and pineapple take over, bringing a green, ripe-fruit character that feels more tactile than dessert-like. The composition then broadens. Ambergris and cistus add warmth, white musk pulls everything closer to skin, and vanilla, sandalwood, and cashmeran create a soft woody finish. As the fragrance develops, the fruit gradually recedes while the base becomes more apparent. What lingers is less sharp and more enveloping, with a gentle musk, creamy vanilla, and smooth wood. On fabric, the composition leaves a soft trace as the brighter opening has gone.
Cultural impact
BALFIG suits the fragrance-lover who treats scent as a seasonal practice, present without demanding to be the only thing anyone remembers. Its citrus-fruit brightness and woody, musky finish give it a balanced character, while the fig-led heart keeps the composition distinctive. Bergamot, orange, ginger, and clary sage bring an opening lift, followed by the green freshness of fig leaf and pineapple. The later notes of ambergris, white musk, cistus, vanilla, sandalwood, and cashmeran soften the profile into a warm trail.
The House
Balint ParfumsBalint Parfums is a Serbian perfume house rooted in the quiet village of Kanjiza. Founded by perfumer Csaba Balint, the label debuted with Balifleur in 2018 and has since built a catalogue that reads like a seasonal diary. Each year the house adds a cluster of scents—Balvanil, Balpear, Balelder, Baloak and Balirose arrived in 2024, while 2025 saw the launch of BALGRIS, BALCACTUS, BALMER, BALYVER and BALROUGE. The brand balances a modest workshop ethos with a steady output of new compositions, offering collectors a sense of discovery without the flash of larger houses. Its fragrance line is marked by the “BAL” prefix, a subtle signature that ties the releases together while each bottle tells its own story.
The Creator
Csaba BálintCsaba favors a linear construction that lets each note speak before the next arrives. He often begins with a crisp citrus or green top, then introduces a heart of floral or aromatic herbs, and grounds the piece with a subtle woody or resinous base.
