The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Balnarcisse was created by Csaba Bálint and launched in 2023, joining the Balbibliothèque collection of a Serbian perfume house. Its composition is built around contrasts: cherry blossom and lilac against bergamot, then narcissus and heliotrope complicated by sea salt and suede. The result is floral without looking untouched, powdery without feeling antique, and fresh with a mineral edge. Bálint's approach to fragrance comes through in the way Balnarcisse presents itself gently, then gains depth through texture, warmth, and a restrained woody finish. The flowers, salt, and suede create a composition that moves between delicacy and structure, making the scent quietly distinctive without relying on a single dominant gesture.
The striking choice is sea salt placed beside narcissus, heliotrope, and suede. Salt turns a familiar floral arrangement inward, giving lilac and cherry blossom the atmosphere of air moving across stone. Suede adds a physical, almost tactile layer that makes the composition less decorative. Heliotrope contributes a soft, powdery dimension, while ambrette later adds a warm depth to the composition.
The evolution
The opening arrives with cherry blossom and lilac giving it an airy floral character, while bergamot adds a clean edge. As the flowers settle, narcissus becomes more present, joined by the contrasting mineral effect of sea salt. Heliotrope softens the center with a powdery quality, and suede introduces a tactile layer that makes the composition feel less ornamental. The composition then turns inward. Vanilla rounds the edges, cashmere wood gives the drydown a brushed texture, and ambrette adds warmth beneath the softer materials. Cedar supplies structure beneath the quieter notes. As the fragrance wears, the opening florals give way to a woody, musky floral composition, with suede, cashmere wood, ambrette, and cedar shaping the final impression. The result is a scent that moves from delicate blossoms into a more textured and layered finish.
Cultural impact
Balnarcisse suits the fragrance lover who treats scent as a form of personal expression, present without needing to dominate the room. Its floral composition, powdery textures, and mineral contrast offer an interesting point of entry for those drawn to distinctive niche fragrances. The combination of cherry blossom, lilac, narcissus, heliotrope, sea salt, suede, and the woody base materials gives Balnarcisse a clear identity while leaving room for discovery. It is a fragrance that can be appreciated for its note relationships, especially the way floral elements meet tactile and woody materials in the Balbibliothèque collection.
The House
Balint ParfumsBalint Parfums is a Serbian perfume house rooted in the quiet village of Kanjiza. Founded by perfumer Csaba Balint, the label debuted with Balifleur in 2018 and has since built a catalogue that reads like a seasonal diary. Each year the house adds a cluster of scents—Balvanil, Balpear, Balelder, Baloak and Balirose arrived in 2024, while 2025 saw the launch of BALGRIS, BALCACTUS, BALMER, BALYVER and BALROUGE. The brand balances a modest workshop ethos with a steady output of new compositions, offering collectors a sense of discovery without the flash of larger houses. Its fragrance line is marked by the “BAL” prefix, a subtle signature that ties the releases together while each bottle tells its own story.
The Creator
Csaba BálintCsaba favors a linear construction that lets each note speak before the next arrives. He often begins with a crisp citrus or green top, then introduces a heart of floral or aromatic herbs, and grounds the piece with a subtle woody or resinous base.
