The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
BALGRIS arrived in 2025 from the perfumers behind Balint Parfums. Its composition feels like a chapter written in the house's own language of scent and memory: a meeting of airy lavender and geranium with the rounded spice of cardamom, the brightness of mandarin, and a darker register of tobacco, leather, patchouli, and amber. Nothing about the structure needs a grand origin story. The notes themselves reveal the idea, a poised dialogue between fresh aromatics and warm materials that suits anyone drawn to fragrance with some texture and depth.
What makes BALGRIS interesting is the way its contrasts sit together. Lavender keeps the opening lucid while cardamom adds a dry, peppery edge. Geranium brings a green, almost structural quality, and mandarin gives the composition a clean glint. Then the heart shifts toward rose, ylang-ylang, cinnamon, cumin, and plum, joining floral softness with spice and fruit. The base broadens that tension into tobacco, leather, patchouli, castoreum, tonka bean, white musk, vanilla, amber, and sandalwood, creating a drydown that feels both polished and private.
The evolution
The first impression is airy and composed. Cardamom and mandarin sharpen the lavender and geranium, giving the opening a clean, herbal lift with a flicker of citrus heat. As the fragrance settles, rose and ylang-ylang introduce a sensual floral shadow, while cinnamon, cumin, and plum pull the composition toward warmth and spice. This is where BALGRIS starts to feel less fresh and more magnetic, like a conversation moving from daylight into evening. The drydown brings tobacco and leather forward, with patchouli and castoreum adding a dark, earthy edge. Tonka bean, vanilla, and amber soften that depth without making it sweet, while sandalwood and white musk leave a smooth trail. On skin, the opening aromatics give way gradually, the floral heart unfolding with a warmer, spicier character before the deeper materials take over.
Cultural impact
BALGRIS sits comfortably within Balint Parfums' catalogue, present without needing to dominate the room. Its composition appeals to wearers who enjoy layered, atmospheric scents and take the time to notice how a fragrance changes across its opening, heart, and drydown. The balance of lavender, geranium, and mandarin against tobacco, leather, patchouli, and amber gives it the kind of structure that rewards repeated wearings, making it well suited to anyone drawn to fragrance with texture, depth, and a little mystery. It's a scent to return to, familiar enough to become a habit and detailed enough to keep offering something new.
The House
Balint ParfumsBalint Parfums is a Serbian perfume house rooted in the quiet village of Kanjiza. Founded by perfumer Csaba Balint, the label debuted with Balifleur in 2018 and has since built a catalogue that reads like a seasonal diary. Each year the house adds a cluster of scents—Balvanil, Balpear, Balelder, Baloak and Balirose arrived in 2024, while 2025 saw the launch of BALGRIS, BALCACTUS, BALMER, BALYVER and BALROUGE. The brand balances a modest workshop ethos with a steady output of new compositions, offering collectors a sense of discovery without the flash of larger houses. Its fragrance line is marked by the “BAL” prefix, a subtle signature that ties the releases together while each bottle tells its own story.
The Creator
Csaba BálintCsaba favors a linear construction that lets each note speak before the next arrives. He often begins with a crisp citrus or green top, then introduces a heart of floral or aromatic herbs, and grounds the piece with a subtle woody or resinous base.
