Why it exists.
The beginning
Sheik Âmbar Incense arrived in 2015 from the house of Atelier Segall & Barutti, composed by perfumer Tzivia Segall. The name nods directly to two of its loudest materials: amber, carrying that resinous gravity, and the smoky pull of incense, which does the heavy lifting throughout the wear. The composition leans on warmth from the first spray, with spice threading through every stage and resin grounding the drydown into something dense and lasting. Bergamot opens with a bright, slightly green lift before the cinnamon and coriander take over, pushing the scent into spiced-territory quickly. Vanilla arrives in the heart, rounding out the sharper edges and lending a creamy softness that keeps the spice from feeling aggressive.
What separates this from the usual amber-incense template is the willingness to layer bright and dark materials in the same breath. Juniper and raspberry rub against saffron in the opening, while the heart folds vanilla, jasmine, and bergamot into the smoky architecture. The base commits fully to frankincense, labdanum, and a green oud that keeps the drydown from sliding into sweetness. It's not a polite composition. It's a composition that knows exactly where it wants to land.
The evolution
The opening belongs to incense, neroli, amberwood, cinnamon, and tarragon, and it arrives with a sharp, aromatic brightness that doesn't overstay its welcome. Within the first twenty minutes, the cinnamon starts to bloom, the tarragon adds its herbal coolness, and the amberwood pushes the scent toward something warmer and more grounded. As the heart emerges, vanilla wraps around the spice, softening cinnamon and coriander into something rounder and more approachable. Rose drifts in alongside the oriental elements, and the turmeric adds a quiet, earthy thread beneath everything, keeping the sweetness honest. Moving past the first hour, the base begins to take over. Frankincense steps forward, labdanum deepens the warmth, and cedar and sandalwood ground the composition into something woody and stable.

Sheik Âmbar Incense finds its natural setting in cooler weather, when the resinous and spicy facets of the composition have room to expand without feeling heavy. The incense-led structure gives it a contemplative quality, suited to evenings and slower moments when a fragrance can unfold without competing with heat or humidity. The interplay of labdanum, frankincense, and green oud creates a smoky atmosphere that feels intentional rather than accidental.
