The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name says it all. Capri Forget Me Not is a promise, don't forget Capri, and Capri won't forget you. Carthusia launched it in 2012, drawing on the island's legacy since 1948. The creative direction looked backward to the Capri of the late 1960s, that moment when the island stood for elegance, eccentricity, force of nature, and warmth. The name itself became the brief: create something so tied to a place and a feeling that it becomes impossible to forget.
What makes the structure interesting is the tension between sunny citrus and cooler herbal notes. Four citruses open the pyramid, lime, lemon, mandarin orange, and orange, delivering the sharp, sunny brightness expected of any Mediterranean fragrance. But the heart introduces mint and eucalyptus, which bring a cool, almost medicinal counterpoint that keeps the composition from tipping into sweetness. Fig adds its green, slightly milky character; violet lends a powdery floral touch. The base layers cyclamen and hyacinth, florals more commonly found in cosmetic scents, alongside artemisia's bitter, herbaceous quality and vanilla's warmth.
The evolution
Capri Forget Me Not was created as a tribute to the wildflowers that bloom along Capri's coastal paths. Carthusia's perfumer sought to capture the essence of a Mediterranean morning, where citrus groves meet sea air. The fragrance evolved through several iterations before settling on this bright, fresh interpretation that balances citrus brightness with subtle floral undertones.
Cultural impact
Launched in 2012, Capri Forget Me Not captures the island's 1960s cultural moment, that era of elegance, eccentricity, and Mediterranean warmth compressed into a unisex fragrance. The green-citrus-fruity character sits comfortably in the modern niche fragrance landscape, appealing to those who want something distinctive without the aggression of heavy sillage. Moderate projection means it rewards the close encounter rather than announcing itself across a room.
