Why it exists.
The beginning
Oud Mira was released in 2017 from the Tiziana Terenzi house, composed by Paolo Terenzi. The fragrance draws its inspiration from Marrakech's Jemaa el Fnaa, the city's central square that comes alive after sunset. It's a composition built to capture the sensory richness of that place: saffron-stained air, rose petals underfoot, and the resinous depth of oud drifting through the crowd. The saffron hits first with that warm, slightly metallic sharpness it carries, followed by a tangerine brightness that keeps the opening from feeling heavy. The florals settle in quickly, with rose lending a soft, almost jammy sweetness that grounds the spice rather than letting it float away.
Beneath the opening, Bulgarian rose and ylang-ylang weave through a spice core of clove, nutmeg, and geranium, giving the heart a rounded, golden quality. The florals arrive with a candied warmth, reading almost edible at times, like rose petals steeped in honey. The geranium adds a green, leafy edge that keeps the sweetness from tipping into syrup, while the clove and nutmeg bring a quiet heat that builds slowly as the hours pass. The base pairs Laotian oud with cypriol, sandalwood, and patchouli, anchoring the composition in root and earth.
The evolution
The first half hour sets the tone. Saffron and tangerine open with a sting, sharp and almost bitter, before Bulgarian rose arrives to soften the edges. That opening reads bright but never clean; there's already something resinous underneath waiting to surface. Between the one and three hour mark, the heart takes over. Clove, nutmeg, geranium, and ylang-ylang build a dense floral-spice core, waxy and golden, warm enough to feel close without smothering. The rose fades but never fully disappears; it hangs like oil suspended in water, suspended in the composition even as the spices take the lead. Past the four hour mark, the composition shifts into its base. Oud, patchouli, cypriol, sandalwood, and amber lock the structure down.
