The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Tiziana Terenzi directs while her brother Paolo Terenzi composes. The Luna collection, launched in 2015, draws its names from constellations, and Andromeda takes its from the Greek myth of an Ethiopian queen chained to a rock and rescued by Perseus, then raised to the stars. Paolo translated that celestial narrative into a fragrance that moves from bright citrus-green radiance to a warm, powdery-floral heart, then settles into a creamy, gourmand base that feels like starlight rendered as silk against skin. The Italian niche house, founded in Cattolica in 1968, builds each scent from global materials at high concentration, and Andromeda exemplifies that approach: complex, layered, and deeply personal.
Paolo Terenzi's philosophy centers on translating personal memory and mythology into scent. With Andromeda, the opening captures the myth's celestial quality through bright, clean materials like bergamot and water jasmine. The heart represents Andromeda's transformation, shifting from airy florals into something more tangible and tender. The drydown grounds that transformation in warmth, using vanilla, tonka bean, and milk to evoke a sense of comfort and continuity. Each layer builds on the last, creating a fragrance that feels like both a story and a sensory experience.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with bergamot cutting through the green freshness of crushed grass, while water jasmine and ylang-ylang introduce a cool, aquatic sweetness that feels almost delicate. Within minutes, the fruit notes emerge. Pear and peach arrive quietly, their sweetness tempered by violet leaf and the powdery softness of lily and white heliotrope. Rose adds a delicate floral lift without dominating. As the heart matures, the warm base notes begin to show: cocoa and coconut at first, then the deeper anchoring of amber, vanilla, and tonka bean. Cashmere and ebony give the final drydown a creamy-woody texture that stays close to the skin for hours, completing the journey from celestial brightness to intimate warmth.
Cultural impact
In the niche space, Tiziana Terenzi occupies a specific corner: dramatic, Italian, unapologetic in its concentration. Andromeda fits there, sweet enough to attract, complex enough to reward repeat wearing. The 2015 launch placed it in a moment when niche houses were building loyal followings through social platforms, word of mouth, and the kind of sillage that gets you noticed.
