The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sophia Grojsman created the original Lancôme rose in 1990. The 30th anniversary edition marks three decades of one of the most beloved fragrances in the world, brought back in a limited edition bottle with warm metallic pink shoulders and amber glass. The composition opens with bright peach and pineapple softened by weightless bergamot, giving way to a heart where jasmine and rose interweave with heliotrope's powdery sweetness. As the top notes fade, iris and violet add quiet complexity, while amber and vanilla settle into warmth that lingers close to the skin.
The note structure unfolds with a fruit-laden opening that softens into powdery florals before settling into warm amber and vanilla. Peach brightens the top, while apricot blossom adds a delicate floral juiciness that carries through the heart. Heliotrope and iris bring powdery softness, while sandalwood and musk anchor everything in warmth. The composition transitions smoothly from bright fruit to floral richness, with amber and vanilla providing a soft, lingering finish.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright and luminous, peach and pineapple at their sweetest, softened by bergamot that reads almost weightless. Within minutes, the florals take over: jasmine gives the heart some weight, rose deepens into something richer, and heliotrope adds that characteristic powdery sweetness. The iris arrives quietly, adding a soft, almost medicinal complexity that builds as the top notes fade. By the second hour, the drydown takes over, amber and vanilla wrapping everything in warmth, sandalwood providing creaminess, and musk holding it all close. The apricot blossom note fades with the top notes, its sweetness giving way to the deeper warmth beneath.
Cultural impact
Sophia Grojsman created the original Lancôme rose in 1990. The anniversary edition marks three decades of the fragrance, bringing it back in a limited edition bottle with warm metallic pink shoulders and amber glass. The composition retains its signature character, a fruit-laden opening that softens into powdery florals, settling into warm amber and vanilla. The limited edition presentation honors this legacy.
