The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2020, Anne Flipo and Nicolas Beaulieu returned to one of the most beloved compositions in modern French perfumery. La Vie Est Belle had already become a cultural shorthand for accessible Parisian glamour, built on the house's signature iris-vanilla accord. The brief for Intensément was simple: intensify without betraying. What arrived was a fragrance that leans harder into the qualities that made the original a global success, amplifying the red iris and vanilla into something richer, deeper, and more insistent.
What makes Intensément work is the tension between its cool and warm registers. The red iris brings a powdery-violet quality that reads almost mineral against the skin, while red vanilla and benzoin push in the opposite direction, warm and resinous. Raspberry bridges the two, bright and sweet enough to make the transition feel effortless. Heliotrope adds an almond-cream facet that rounds the heart into something almost edible, while jasmine sambac absolute keeps it grounded in something real. The result is a fragrance that feels like a well-made argument, passionate, but coherent.
The evolution
The opening hits fast. Raspberry arrives first, brighter than expected, softened by pink pepper's gentle heat and bergamot's cool citrus spark. It doesn't linger at the door. Within twenty minutes, the jasmine sambac absolute takes over the heart, rich and indolic, while heliotrope folds in that almond-cream note that makes the whole middle section feel almost edible. The orange blossom keeps things sunny enough to prevent it from going heavy too soon. Then, around the two-hour mark, the base takes over. The red vanilla and benzoin arrive together, sticky-warm and balsamic. The red iris settles into the drydown alongside sandalwood, creating that powdery-violet warmth that lingers closest to the skin. Patchouli is present but tamed, more texture than statement. Eight to ten hours later, on fabric, it's still there, a soft, warm whisper that smells like the end of a good night.
Cultural impact
La Vie Est Belle became one of the defining feminine fragrances of its era. Intensément builds on that foundation not by reinventing, but by intensifying, leaning into the warm, sweet, powdery character that made the original a global success. It's a fragrance that rewards familiarity with the original while offering something richer for those who want more.
