The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2010, Lancome tasked perfumers Dominique Ropion, Veronique Nyberg, and Alienor Massenet with capturing the giddy sensation of new affection. Rather than relying on a single star note, the team built the fragrance around Peach as a recurring motif, using it in both the opening and heart to create a signature sweetness that evolves across the wearing experience. Bergamot and Pink Pepper were chosen to provide immediate brightness, ensuring the opening felt lively rather than cloying, while Cedarwood was reserved for the drydown to give the fragrance a sense of completeness.
The decision to repeat Peach in both the opening and heart was deliberate. It creates a through-line that makes the fragrance feel personal and familiar, like a memory you return to. Musk was chosen for the base because it responds to body heat, making the fragrance smell slightly different on each wearer, a quality that fits the idea of a secret kept between two people. Cedarwood adds structural integrity without competing with the softer elements, allowing the wearer to feel confident that the scent will last through an entire day without reapplication.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with an immediate fruity burst, Peach and Pear combining to evoke the sensation of biting into ripe fruit on a warm morning. Bergamot lifts the sweetness with citrus clarity while Pink Pepper introduces a subtle spark of energy. As the fragrance develops, Peach reappears in the heart, this time cushioned by the romantic softness of Rose and the delicate green nuance of Violet. Jasmine enters to deepen the floral layer, adding a creamy counterweight to the fruit. The drydown transitions to Musk, which wraps the skin in a gentle embrace, and Cedarwood provides a clean woody finish that keeps the fragrance grounded and wearable for hours.
Cultural impact
Since its 2010 debut, Tresor In Love has become a go‑to for women seeking a romantic yet office‑friendly fragrance. Wearers often note its flattering rose‑fruit blend earns compliments, positioning it as a modern sibling to the classic Trésor while standing out for its pink‑pepper spark. Its moderate sillage and six‑hour longevity make it suitable for daily wear, and its elegant pink bottle has been praised for echoing the brand’s signature jewel‑like design.
