Why it exists.
The beginning
By the early 2000s, Jean-Michel Duriez had launched as in-house perfumer at Jean Patou with a trio of scents in 2001, Pan Ame, Hip, and Nacre. The three shared a pear-led fruity-floral DNA. Enjoy was the sequel, building on what Duriez had established. He leaned into the sweetness, stretched the fruit across seven opening notes, and let jasmine and rose anchor the composition. It was an attempt to reframe the house as modern and accessible, updating the language without losing the pear signature that connected it to the trio before it.
Seven top notes is a lot of opening to coordinate. Blackcurrant, banana, cassia, bergamot, mandarin, orange, and pear arrive almost simultaneously, which is unusual for a composition this sweet. Duriez stacked them and used cassia to keep the fruit from reading like a smoothie. The jasmine and rose heart is deliberately minimal. The evolution
