The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vicky Tiel built her name dressing the women Hollywood couldn't ignore. Translating that understanding of feminine power into scent, she created Originale in 1990, a fragrance that wears the confidence of someone who knows exactly who she is. The name itself is the statement: this is the original vision, the touchstone from which everything else follows.
The note structure tells you everything about the intent. Hyacinth and mignonette bring green, almost mineral sharpness to the opening, an unexpected tension against the lush white florals that follow. Jasmine and African orange flower don't whisper; they arrive with full conviction. Then the base: warm amber, musk, and vanilla anchor the composition into something sensual and long-lasting. It's a pyramid designed for presence, not subtlety.
The evolution
The top notes arrive crisp, citrus and green mignonette cut clean through the air for the first fifteen minutes. Then the heart takes over. Jasmine and orange flower bloom, joined by hyacinth's green intensity and heliotrope's powdery depth. The opulence builds. Tuberose's richness pushes through the other florals, making the heart phase feel almost excessive, in the best way. By hour four, the base announces itself. Musk and amber wrap around creamy vanilla. The florals don't disappear; they recede, softened, part of the skin now. Originale stays close after that, intimate sillage, warm and powdery, detectable on your collar for hours. The jasmine never fully leaves. It lingers at the edges of the musk, present but no longer center stage.
Cultural impact
Released in 1990, Originale arrived as lighter florals were taking over. Instead of following the trend, it doubled down, a bold, opulent floral with green tension and animal warmth. The combination feels distinctly of its era while holding a timeless quality. Wearers describe it as the scent of someone who commands attention without asking for it.
