The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Delisunsa arrived in 2023 as part of 1907's Fragment collection, and the name says everything. 'Deli Sunsa', delicious sun. A fragrance built around the idea of warmth: not the aggressive heat of noon, but the soft, forgiving light of a late morning that doesn't judge you for staying in bed. Eva Škovranová built this one around contrast, bright citrus fruits that open sharp, then yield to a heart of white florals that soften everything, then anchor into a base that's genuinely cozy without being heavy. The brief seems simple: what does morning smell like when morning is your favorite part?
The structure is unusual for a fruity-floral: most compositions in this family treat the base as an afterthought, a vanilla-white musk softener designed to make the heart feel safe. Delisunsa doesn't do safe. The dark chocolate and benzoin in the base carry real weight, they turn the drydown into something that actually evolves, something you'd stop and notice three hours in rather than just register in the background. West Indian Bay in the heart is the quiet wildcard, a spice that bridges the bright opening and the warm base without drawing attention to itself. It's the note that makes the whole thing feel intentional rather than assembled.
The evolution
It opens bright. Bergamot, blackcurrant, a citrus burst that hits like cold water, invigorating, immediate, not subtle. This phase lasts maybe twenty minutes before the peach emerges and softens everything. The handoff from citrus to fruit to floral happens smoothly, no jarring transitions. By hour two, you're in the jasmine-ylang-ylang heart, and the composition shifts from 'fresh morning' to 'warm morning.' The chocolate doesn't arrive all at once, it builds quietly under the florals, appearing first as a warmth rather than a note. By hour four, the caramel and vanilla are running the show, and this is where the fragrance earns its name. Lasts six to eight hours on most skin, lingering as a skin-close warmth rather than a room-filling statement. On fabric, it sticks around longer, you'll find it in a scarf or a shirt collar the next morning.
Cultural impact
Delisunsa sits comfortably in the post-2020 sweet-fruity space, fragrances that acknowledge comfort without retreating into pure gourmand territory. It's not competing with the heavy hitters of the category (those bottles with aggressive projection and longevity claims), but rather offering something more intimate: a fragrance that rewards the wearer more than the room. The 1907 house has built a following on this kind of restraint, and Delisunsa fits that identity without compromise.
