The beginning
Chrome arrived in 2013, a men's aromatic fougère from Yardley London. Christian Provenzano, the perfumer, built Chrome around a clean green-to-warm arc. Bergamot and galbanum up top for that cut-grass energy, lavender and coriander in the heart for a classic herbal backbone, and a mossy amber base that keeps the whole thing grounded. It was never meant to shout. The composition leans into a particular kind of restraint, the sort that lets individual notes breathe without any one of them dominating the conversation. You catch the galbanum first, that sharp green resinous quality, before the bergamot softens its edges and pulls things toward something brighter. Then the lavender arrives with its familiar cool herbal lift, the coriander threading a faint peppery warmth underneath.
What's interesting here is the discipline. No surprise ingredient. No novelty for novelty's sake. Galbanum is the boldest choice, and even that is a traditional fougère note. The structure follows the classic aromatic fougère template: green citrus opening, herbal-spiced heart, mossy-musk base. Provenzano just tightened it. The evolution
