The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dragon Blood arrived in 2018, part of Nimere Parfums' collection. The name suggests mythology and warning both. Dragon Blood is that confrontation made tangible. Red resin, black spice, leather, and oak. Not a polite composition. The scent opens with an earthy, balsamic punch from the red resin, unapologetic and bold. Black spice prickles the nostrils while leather builds beneath, patient and animalic. Oak grounds everything in something dry and lasting. The overall effect is dark, smoky, and commanding.
Dragon's blood resin is one of perfumery's older materials, a red sap harvested from certain palms, used in sacrificial ceremonies and traditional medicine. Here it becomes the anchor, not the novelty. The black pepper and cardamom amplify its earthiness. Cherry adds a sweetness that flirts before the leather and vetiver arrive. Oak grounds everything in something dry and lasting. The name isn't decoration. Dragon's blood is the point, resinous, smoky, powerful, and just slightly dangerous.
The evolution
Dragon's blood resin opens with an earthy, balsamic punch, medicinal, red, and unapologetic. Black pepper and cardamom arrive immediately, adding heat that prickles the nostrils before the sweetness has a chance to settle. Within minutes, cherry appears, bright, almost candied, a brief softness before coriander and rose deepen the heart. The leather doesn't wait. It builds beneath the cherry, patient and animalic, while oak and vetiver push upward through the composition. By the second hour, cherry and rose have retreated. Leather, ginger, vetiver, and oak hold the stage, smoky, earthy, and warm. The fragrance lingers long after application, with the drydown stretching well beyond the initial hours on most skin types.
Cultural impact
Dragon Blood sits in the tradition of resin-forward, smoky compositions that appeal to wearers who want something with weight and mythology behind it. The dragon's blood resin gives it a distinctive edge, resinous, earthy, and unapologetically dark. The cherry-rose heart softens what could otherwise be a one-note intensity. The house itself remains compact, each release with its own distinct angle. Dragon Blood is the chapter about what lives beneath.
