The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nikolay Eremin designed Time Stood Still with a focus on contrasting elements that unfold in unexpected ways. The composition begins with bright citrus and aromatic resins before moving into warmer territory, where honey, ambergris, and incense take over. What emerges is a fragrance that rewards patience, shifting from crisp to resinous as the hours pass. Eremin built the structure around these opposing forces, creating something that feels cohesive despite its range. The result is a scent that asks you to stay with it, to let each phase reveal itself in turn.
What makes Time Stood Still structurally interesting is how the opening and drydown pull in opposite directions. Tangerine and elemi arrive crisp and aromatic, almost cool in their delivery. But beneath that freshness, honey and ambergris are already settling into position, waiting their turn. The frankincense in the heart acts as the middle chapter, written in smoke and floral warmth. Jasmine sambac threads through at this stage, sweet and slightly indolic, preventing the incense from becoming austere. Rose appears briefly, almost as punctuation.
The evolution
The opening hits with tangerine brightness, a flicker of elemi resin, and lavender's herbal edge. For a while, it reads as almost refreshing, clean and sharp. Then the shift begins. Frankincense arrives not as smoke exactly, but as weight, the air itself gets denser around you. Jasmine sambac threads through, sweet and slightly indolic, preventing the incense from going austere. Rose appears briefly, almost as punctuation in the composition. As things progress, honey takes command, followed by vanilla. The ambergris surfaces, not marine, but warm, like a memory of the sea held in amber. Nutmeg and turmeric land last, adding a faint spice that keeps the sweetness honest. The drydown holds close and resinous, with cyperus grounding everything that came before. The longevity is above-average, lingering well on skin and fabric.
Cultural impact
Time Stood Still has earned attention among niche fragrance collectors for its distinctive honey-incense pairing. The combination is unusual enough to stand out in a crowded field, offering something that moves beyond conventional perfumery trajectories. Rather than opening loudly and retreating, this fragrance unfolds gradually, revealing different facets as time passes. The pairing creates an unexpected harmony between sweet and smoky elements, making it a conversation piece for those who appreciate complexity in their scents.
