The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Folhas Cítricas translates from Portuguese as "citrus leaves," and the name does the heavy lifting. Launched in 2004, it arrived as part of Natura's broader exploration of Brazilian botanical identity through everyday fragrance. Folhas Cítricas sits within that lineage, a composition that uses citrus as the doorway but lets the spice and green florals underneath carry the second act. There's no single exotic material dominating the pyramid. Instead, it layers familiar aromatics, lemon, mandarin, lavender, clove, into something that reads less like a showpiece and more like a well-worn routine.
What makes the composition worth a closer look is the structure. The top loads a generous spread of citrus, fruit, and green materials, but the heart counters with clove leaf and cardamom, two spices that usually anchor a base, not a middle. Iso E Super joins them, adding that smooth, woody-amber haze that has become a familiar building block in modern masculine perfumery. False jasmine and lily-of-the-valley provide a soapy white-floral cushion between the spice and the citrus, preventing the opening from ever feeling sharp or grating.
The evolution
The opening belongs almost entirely to lemon, mandarin, and pomelo, a three-way citrus burst that's bright and almost aggressive in its freshness. Pear softens the edges and lavender cools everything down, while cedar needles push a green, sappy note through the whole top. Orange weaves in a sweeter, rounder citrus tone that keeps the blend from feeling too sharp, and the watery notes add a clean, almost mineral lift that makes the whole accord feel airier than a straight citrus cologne. As the composition breathes, the citrus has retreated enough to let clove leaf and cardamom step forward, and the temperature shifts noticeably. The white florals, lily-of-the-valley and false jasmine, weave a clean, slightly soapy ribbon through the spice. Geranium and nutmeg add a faint peppery warmth that never quite declares itself.
Cultural impact
Folhas Cítricas sits at the heart of Natura's Brazilian identity, drawing directly from the lush greenery and botanical imagery the brand has long cultivated in its compositions. Its blend of lemon, pear, mandarin, lavender, pomelo, and cedar needles mirrors a sensory palette rooted in citrus, foliage, and cool aromatic herbs, the kind of combination that reads as refreshing and green in a tropical climate. The scent carries that ethos forward with a bright, sunlit character suited to warm weather wear, layering crisp fruit against coniferous and herbal notes in a way that feels distinctly at home under Brazilian skies.
