The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Natura established itself as a Brazilian fragrance house with a deep commitment to local biodiversity and natural sourcing. The brand has built its identity around the idea that scent can reflect something authentic about daily life, drawing from botanical resources native to Brazil. In 2018, perfumer Verônica Kato developed Homem Verum with the intention of capturing a sense of genuine experience through fragrance, grounding her work in both natural ingredients and a clear structural vision. The Latin roots of the name reflect the brand's desire to connect scent to something truthful and unpretentious.
Verônica Kato worked with the premise that a fragrance can reflect something genuine about lived experience, using notes that feel connected to everyday authenticity. The opening green and aromatic notes set an immediate tone, while the heart of violet and saffron introduces a refined spice that pairs well with the suede from the opening. The leather and sandalwood drydown completes the vision, offering a warm, tactile finish that reinforces the brand's commitment to natural, grounded ingredients without relying on synthetic excess.
The evolution
The fragrance opens with aromatic notes and green notes that feel immediate and energizing, with spicy notes adding a subtle kick and suede providing a soft, leathery warmth from the start. The heart introduces violet, bringing a quiet floral dimension alongside amber, black pepper, and saffron, which together create an earthy-spicy warmth that deepens the impression. As the scent settles into its drydown, leather takes command, with woody notes and sandalwood providing structure and a lingering warmth that feels grounded and personal on the skin.
Cultural impact
Homem Verum occupies a specific space in the woody-spicy category, crafted in Brazil with a character that sets it apart from many competitors in this space. The use of copaiba gives it a differentiating quality that community feedback has noted as distinctive. Some comparisons position it as a close cousin to CH Men by Carolina Herrera, with similar structural approach but its own character in the drydown. The fragrance has found resonance among wearers who appreciate its unique construction.
