The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Al Vento arrived in 2023 as a unisex fragrance from Fratelli Diamanti, composed by Ceyhan Elmas. Its name points toward wind, and that idea gives the scent its shape: an opening of moving air, bright citrus, green notes, and black pepper, followed by a floral center that feels more composed than pretty. The official description frames it as a sophisticated niche fragrance for refined everyday wear, balancing freshness, elegance, and smooth character. That balance matters here. Al Vento is not chasing a single dramatic gesture. It builds movement from contrast, letting pepper and citrus create a clean horizon before iris, violet leaf, lavender, and clary sage bring the composition into focus. The result is familiar enough for daily rotation, but distinctive enough to keep its place in the wardrobe.
What makes Al Vento interesting is the handoff between air and texture. Grapefruit and mandarin bring brightness, black pepper adds a dry snap, and green notes make the opening feel like a window thrown open. Then the heart turns inward. Iris and violet leaf lend a cool, powdery quality, while clary sage and lavender soften the pace without erasing the structure. The base is where the scent gains weight: cedarwood and vetiver bring dry wood and earth, while ambergris and white musk create a smooth, skinlike finish. It is a familiar fresh-floral-woody vocabulary, but the contrast keeps it from feeling flat.
The evolution
Al Vento begins with a clean burst of citrus and green air, sharpened by black pepper. That opening is crisp without being icy, bright without turning sour. As it settles, the composition moves toward iris and violet leaf, with clary sage and lavender lending a herbal, powdery softness. The floral phase feels composed rather than lush, almost like a tailored jacket seen against open air. Then the base takes over. Cedarwood and vetiver bring a dry, grounded finish, joined by ambergris and white musk for a smoother, more intimate trail. The pepper fades first, but vetiver and white musk tend to linger close to the skin. By the later hours, Al Vento reads less like citrus and more like polished wood, soft musk, and a faint mineral warmth. It settles into the kind of scent that feels good on a coat or collar after the day has moved on.
Cultural impact
Al Vento fits Fratelli Diamanti’s wider register of cosmopolitan polish, where Italian elegance meets Middle Eastern fragrance culture. Its place-based name and unisex composition sit naturally within a catalogue that moves through sky, sea, wind, rose, oud, and atmospheric compositions. For scent explorers, it offers a readable meeting point between airy citrus, herbal florals, and dry woods.
The House
Fratelli DiamantiFratelli Diamanti is an Italian-named fragrance house founded by Ceyhan and Erhan Elmas, brothers whose work places scent at the meeting point of Italian perfumery and Middle Eastern fragrance culture. The brand presents a broad collection of niche perfumes, including Al Cielo, Royal Oud, Reborn Rose, Sha'mamia, Ten Miles, Shades of Grey, Florence, Al Mare, Al Vento and Montecristo. Its catalogue moves between oud-led compositions, floral names, atmospheric scents and references to place and travel. Public descriptions identify the house with extrait de parfum, giving the collection a clear identity within concentrated fragrance. Fratelli Diamanti also developed the Diamond Collection, a 15-fragrance series reported to include Montecristo, one of the house’s most discussed releases.
