The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Florence was launched in 2021 as part of Fratelli Diamanti's Diamond Collection, with Ceyhan Elmas credited as perfumer. Frankincense and pink pepper bring the opening into focus, lending it aromatic smoke and a clean flash of heat. Iris gives the heart its polished, powdery character, balancing the sharper opening without introducing obvious sweetness. As the fragrance settles, cedarwood and vetiver draw the composition toward dry wood and earth. The result is restrained and atmospheric, with a measured floral center held between resinous smoke, cool iris, and grounded woody notes. It feels less decorative than it is contemplative, presenting a clear structure that gradually reveals itself as the brighter materials recede.
The interesting part is the handoff between materials. Frankincense moves from a lifted, aromatic opening into a deeper smoky presence, while pink pepper adds a clean flash of heat rather than overt sweetness. Iris supplies the powdery floral tension in the middle, creating a composed contrast to the resinous notes around it. As the heart settles, cedarwood and vetiver anchor the fragrance with dry wood and earth. Their interaction softens the brightness of the opening while leaving a steady woody structure underneath.
The evolution
The first impression is bright and lightly heated, with pink pepper sharpening the opening while frankincense brings a cool aromatic smoke. As the scent settles, iris takes the lead, turning the composition powdery, elegant, and slightly cool. The heart feels composed rather than sweet, restrained enough to let each material retain a distinct character. Later, cedarwood and vetiver pull the focus downward into dry, earthy woods, while the pink pepper loses its initial brightness. Frankincense lingers as a faint smoky trace rather than taking over, connecting the opening to the denser woody base. By the time the sharper facets have softened, Florence sits close to the skin with a polished, mineral-woody finish. Its progression is gradual, moving from aromatic brightness through a cool floral center and finally toward a calm, grounded presence.
Cultural impact
Florence can be appreciated through the character of its materials rather than through any broader cultural positioning. Frankincense and pink pepper create an aromatic, lightly heated opening, iris adds a cool and powdery floral center, and cedarwood and vetiver bring dry wood and earth to the composition. This measured progression gives the fragrance an atmospheric quality, with each note supporting a clear structure as the scent evolves on the skin.
The House
Fratelli DiamantiFratelli Diamanti is an Italian-named fragrance house founded by Ceyhan and Erhan Elmas, brothers whose work places scent at the meeting point of Italian perfumery and Middle Eastern fragrance culture. The brand presents a broad collection of niche perfumes, including Al Cielo, Royal Oud, Reborn Rose, Sha'mamia, Ten Miles, Shades of Grey, Florence, Al Mare, Al Vento and Montecristo. Its catalogue moves between oud-led compositions, floral names, atmospheric scents and references to place and travel. Public descriptions identify the house with extrait de parfum, giving the collection a clear identity within concentrated fragrance. Fratelli Diamanti also developed the Diamond Collection, a 15-fragrance series reported to include Montecristo, one of the house’s most discussed releases.
The Creator
Ceyhan ElmasHis signature rests in the amber family, a category that rewards patience and depth over immediate brightness. Resins, balms, and base materials take center stage in his compositions, building around warmth rather than sparkle.
