The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ambre Royale arrived in 2023 as part of Fratelli Diamanti's Special Collection. Ceyhan Elmas is credited as the nose, shaping a woody-amber composition whose listed notes include cardamom, cypress, clary sage, frankincense, cedarwood, patchouli, ambergris, cashmere wood, vanilla, and musk. The accord profile is described as warm-spicy, balsamic, and animalic. Its central pairing is frankincense and ambergris, supported by the dry woods of cedarwood and patchouli before cashmere wood, vanilla, and musk complete the composition. Where the wider catalogue includes atmospheric names such as Al Mare and Al Vento, Ambre Royale presents a more direct amber profile.
The defining feature of Ambre Royale is the frankincense-to-ambergris pairing. Frankincense contributes its familiar smoky, resinous character, while ambergris brings a distinct mineral and saline dimension. Cedarwood and patchouli deepen the middle with dry, woody facets, making the heart feel compact and textured. Cashmere wood introduces a smooth, soft quality, while vanilla adds a familiar creamy note and musk provides a quiet finish beneath the stronger materials. Cardamom and cypress give the opening a green, aromatic start before the darker notes become more apparent.
The evolution
Ambre Royale begins with a green opening in which cardamom and cypress establish an aromatic, woody entrance. Clary sage contributes a herbal, musky note that broadens the fresh quality of the opening. Frankincense then becomes more prominent, bringing smoke and resin into focus, while cedarwood and patchouli reinforce the composition's woody character. The listed animalic accord gives the heart another dimension, adding a darker tonal quality to the dry woods. As the ambergris note develops, the fragrance gains a mineral, saline edge alongside its warm amber character. Cashmere wood softens the middle without removing its density, and vanilla adds a creamy counterpoint that is not limited to sweetness. Musk provides a subdued base beneath the stronger notes.
Cultural impact
Ambre Royale invites exploration through a broad woody-amber vocabulary. Cardamom and cypress establish an aromatic opening, while frankincense and patchouli introduce smoke, resin, and dark woody facets. Ambergris adds a mineral and saline dimension, and cashmere wood, vanilla, and musk provide a smoother foundation beneath those stronger notes. The listed warm-spicy, balsamic, and animalic accords give the composition several ways to be read. For a wearer, this may present as a study in contrasts: green and aromatic at the start, smoky and woody through the heart, and mineral, creamy, and softly musky in the later character.
The House
Fratelli DiamantiFratelli Diamanti is an Italian-named fragrance house founded by Ceyhan and Erhan Elmas, brothers whose work places scent at the meeting point of Italian perfumery and Middle Eastern fragrance culture. The brand presents a broad collection of niche perfumes, including Al Cielo, Royal Oud, Reborn Rose, Sha'mamia, Ten Miles, Shades of Grey, Florence, Al Mare, Al Vento and Montecristo. Its catalogue moves between oud-led compositions, floral names, atmospheric scents and references to place and travel. Public descriptions identify the house with extrait de parfum, giving the collection a clear identity within concentrated fragrance. Fratelli Diamanti also developed the Diamond Collection, a 15-fragrance series reported to include Montecristo, one of the house’s most discussed releases.
