The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Orient Express arrived in 2021 from Ceyhan Elmas, whose composition places fruit, floral spice, and mossy depth in the same frame. Its name suggests movement between places, but the idea plays out through contrasts rather than literal scenery: apricot brings a soft, sunlit fruitiness; pink pepper adds a brisk edge; osmanthus and violet introduce a polished floral center; then incense, ambergris, and moss pull everything toward the earth. It is a fragrance built for the feeling of arrival, when polished anticipation meets a city that is already awake.
The unusual part is the balance. Apricot is usually read as simple sweetness, but beside davana and pink pepper it becomes more intriguing, drier, and slightly green. Osmanthenus gives the heart a floral lift, while violet keeps it from becoming too pretty. Black pepper and incense bring the composition down to a darker, more textured place. The result is floral and fruity without becoming sweet, with moss and ambergris leaving a grounded, faintly smoky signature.
The evolution
The opening arrives with a bright fruit-and-spark impression, then settles into a floral middle where violet and osmanthus soften the pepper. That is where Orient Express starts to feel composed, even polished. As the scent moves closer to the skin, incense and moss take over, leaving ambergris as a warm, mineral-like trace rather than a loud sweetness. The final hours feel less like a fruit scent and more like polished stone, leaves, and faint smoke. With a close, intimate trail respected by collectors, it leaves a memorable impression rather than announcing itself across the room.
Cultural impact
Orient Express sits within Fratelli Diamanti's cosmopolitan niche identity, where Italian presentation meets Middle Eastern perfume culture. Its place-oriented name and East-West framing make it feel especially suited to collectors drawn to polished, atmospheric compositions with a sense of movement. The fragrance is presented as a chypre floral for women and men, and its 2021 release places it among the house's broader collection of niche scents.
The House
Fratelli DiamantiFratelli Diamanti is an Italian-named fragrance house founded by Ceyhan and Erhan Elmas, brothers whose work places scent at the meeting point of Italian perfumery and Middle Eastern fragrance culture. The brand presents a broad collection of niche perfumes, including Al Cielo, Royal Oud, Reborn Rose, Sha'mamia, Ten Miles, Shades of Grey, Florence, Al Mare, Al Vento and Montecristo. Its catalogue moves between oud-led compositions, floral names, atmospheric scents and references to place and travel. Public descriptions identify the house with extrait de parfum, giving the collection a clear identity within concentrated fragrance. Fratelli Diamanti also developed the Diamond Collection, a 15-fragrance series reported to include Montecristo, one of the house’s most discussed releases.
