The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dèsert Pearl launched in 2021 as a unisex fragrance from Fratelli Diamanti, composed by Ceyhan Elmas. Its name sets up a clear contrast: a pearl suggests polish and luminosity, while the accent in Dèsert brings an arid, elemental edge. The composition follows that tension through cool juniper berries, lavender, pink pepper, and a woody heart of cedarwood, cypress, and frankincense. Amber, sandalwood, and vetiver complete the drydown with a firm, earthy finish.
The interesting part is the handoff between lavender and incense. Juniper berries make the opening feel bright and almost mineral, pink pepper adds a clean flash of heat, and lavender keeps the whole thing composed rather than overt. Cedarwood and cypress turn the middle woody and vertical, while frankincense introduces a darker aromatic thread. The base settles that brightness into sandalwood, vetiver, and amber, giving the fragrance a grounded finish with a polished edge.
The evolution
Dèsert Pearl begins with a brisk, airy snap. Juniper berries bring a cool green brightness, lavender softens the edges, and pink pepper puts a small flare of heat at the center. As the opening settles, cedarwood and cypress take over, creating a dry, aromatic wood effect while frankincense adds a smoky, resinous depth. The composition gradually moves from fresh to grounded, with amber bringing warmth and sandalwood giving the surface a smooth, polished feel. Vetiver keeps the drydown earthy rather than sweet. By the later hours, the scent sits close to the skin like brushed wood, faint incense, and sun-warmed amber. Its expected 4-6 hour wear leaves a composed trail without turning the fragrance into a loud room-filler.
Cultural impact
Fratelli Diamanti sits at the meeting point of Italian and Middle Eastern fragrance culture, a positioning that gives Dèsert Pearl a place in the house's broader atmospheric, woody, and travel-inspired catalogue. Its unisex character fits that cosmopolitan frame: familiar lavender and incense are placed inside a more polished, worldly presentation rather than a strictly traditional niche register.
The House
Fratelli DiamantiFratelli Diamanti is an Italian-named fragrance house founded by Ceyhan and Erhan Elmas, brothers whose work places scent at the meeting point of Italian perfumery and Middle Eastern fragrance culture. The brand presents a broad collection of niche perfumes, including Al Cielo, Royal Oud, Reborn Rose, Sha'mamia, Ten Miles, Shades of Grey, Florence, Al Mare, Al Vento and Montecristo. Its catalogue moves between oud-led compositions, floral names, atmospheric scents and references to place and travel. Public descriptions identify the house with extrait de parfum, giving the collection a clear identity within concentrated fragrance. Fratelli Diamanti also developed the Diamond Collection, a 15-fragrance series reported to include Montecristo, one of the house’s most discussed releases.
