Why it exists.
The beginning
Ungaro Gold emerged in 2017 as the latest chapter of Emanuel Ungaro's perfume narrative. Veteran perfumer Veronique Nyberg, collaborating with Mane, set out to capture the house's love of contrast, the flash of couture color against a sculpted silhouette. Inspired by the brand's tradition of turning tension into beauty, she built the fragrance around a bright, fruity opening that cuts against deeper floral warmth, letting Ungaro's signature duality play out in scent form.
Nyberg structured the composition around contrast. The opening notes, blackcurrant and mandarin, bring immediate brightness. The heart notes, gardenia and jasmine, add richness and depth. The base notes, amber and vanilla, ground the fragrance in warmth. This approach mirrors Ungaro's design philosophy: structured silhouettes softened by bold color, clean lines interrupted by unexpected texture.
