The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Burn Inside was born from the unease that burned through the world in 2020. It tells a story of tenacity and inner strength, Bruno Perrucci channeling that collective anxiety into something wearable. Smoky notes and styrax evoke the resilience of those who refuse to give up, while guaiac wood and cacao bring warmth with their depth and a touch of reassurance. Nougat, honey, and wild berries attempt to sweeten the atmosphere, adding a hint of comfort. And then the castoreum arrives in the base, animalic, intimate, impossible to forget. In difficult times, we need ambitious dreams. And if we give our all, perhaps those dreams can become reality.
What makes Burn Inside work is the tension built into its structure. The smoky and the sweet pull against each other throughout the pyramid. Incense and styrax bring resinous bitterness; nougat, honey, and wild berries pull toward confection. Dark chocolate sits right on the edge of that boundary, bitter enough to complicate, sweet enough to comfort. The castoreum in the base is what sets this apart from similar sweet-oriental compositions. Most houses either bury the animalic note or avoid it entirely. Bruno Perrucci let it breathe. That's the risk. That's also the reward.
The evolution
The opening announces itself immediately. Incense and pink pepper lift bright and declarative, then the honey cuts through, insistent, not delicate. Nougat sweetens the atmosphere before the smoke settles. For the next three hours, dark chocolate and styrax take over. The white flowers barely register beneath the weight of resin and cocoa. Then the base does what base notes do, it reveals what the rest was building toward. Castoreum. Guaiac wood and cedar provide structure, but that animalic warmth is what truly lingers, settling close to the skin and refusing to fade for hours.
Cultural impact
Burn Inside sits comfortably in the sweet-oriental niche, a category that has grown crowded with safe, approachable compositions. This one isn't safe. The castoreum in the base adds an animalic intensity that most houses either bury or avoid entirely. For wearers who want something bold, something that announces itself without apology, it's found its audience.
