AmbeRum

Five absolutes anchor this composition, benzoin, amber, labdanum, vanilla, and myrrh. That's unusual. Bruno Perrucci went the natural route. The result is a tactile quality, something you can almost feel on skin. The rum note amplifies everything, it pushes the spices forward, gives the tobacco something to play against, makes the drydown feel like it's coming from somewhere real.

The evolution

The opening announces itself immediately. Rum and cinnamon hit first, sharp and boozy, with clove and caraway adding warmth underneath. The frankincense sits quietly, waiting. As the spices begin to settle, tobacco takes over the heart. This is where the fragrance lives for most of its life, warm, smoky, slightly sweet from the vanilla absolute. The butter note is subtle but present, rounding the edges. As the drydown begins, the tobacco fades but doesn't disappear. Benzoin and amber absolutes move to the foreground, with labdanum adding a faint dusty quality. Patchouli and musk anchor everything close to the skin. Over time, the fragrance becomes intimate, something the wearer notices and the room doesn't. A faint warmth remains on pulse points, the absolutes continuing to release their slow, resinous character as the hours pass.
