What makes Over Style structurally unusual is its note architecture. Seven top notes, six heart notes, ten base notes, the kind of pyramid that could collapse into noise. Instead, the frankincense works as a connective tissue, appearing across all three stages rather than just anchoring the base. That smoke thread runs from opening to drydown, holding everything together. The honey and sweet orange in the top prevent the spices from overwhelming, while the mint in the heart keeps the florals from becoming precious. By the time the resins arrive, they've been building all along, the benzoin, labdanum, myrrh, and peru balsam don't appear suddenly. They've been waiting.

The evolution

The opening is bright and warm. Lemon zest cuts through the cinnamon and cloves, frankincense smoke threads through the honeyed sweetness. Pink pepper adds a lift that keeps the citrus from becoming too sharp. For the first thirty minutes, this is a warm spice incense with a sweet edge. The heart arrives gradually. Lavender and mint create a clean, almost medicinal freshness that softens the spice. Magnolia and Turkish rose appear at the edges, geranium adding a faint green quality. Neroli brings a quiet citrus brightness. The florals don't dominate, they soften, they cool. The drydown is where the resins take over. Myrrh and frankincense deepen the smoke. Vanilla and benzoin add warmth without sweetness. Cashmeran gives a soft, almost powdery warmth that bridges the florals and the resins. Cypress and labdanum ground everything with a faint coniferous quality. Oakmoss lingers at the edges, giving the base a quiet earthiness that takes hours to fully disappear.
