The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lorenzo Pazzaglia built his sensory vocabulary in the kitchen, not in a laboratory. Working in his family's restaurant along the Adriatic coast, he developed a precise understanding of how ingredients interact, how heat transforms flavor, and how timing determines whether a dish succeeds or fails. That same analytical rigor now shapes his approach to perfumery, where he treats raw materials with the same attention a chef gives to seasonal produce. For Adam and Eve's Dress, Pazzaglia turned to fig as the central ingredient, a fruit he knows intimately from the Mediterranean landscape of his upbringing. The fragrance does not try to replicate fig in a literal sense. Instead, it deconstructs the fruit across its structural parts, from the green freshness of the skin to the sweet milk inside the flesh.
The decision to pair Fig Milk with Sandalwood in the drydown reflects a specific philosophical choice. Pazzaglia wanted the fragrance to transition from sharpness to softness, letting each stage feel like a distinct chapter rather than a gradual blur. Sandalwood functions as a bridge between the creamy lactonic notes and the woody backbone, preventing the drydown from becoming too heavy or too sweet. The result is a fragrance that reads differently at every hour, rewarding those who give it time to develop on their skin rather than judging it from the opening alone.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with an almost startling clarity. Fig arrives alongside Green Notes that feel freshly torn from a branch, with Bergamot and White Peach amplifying a bright, fruity sweetness. Within fifteen minutes, the character shifts as Fig Leaf introduces a slightly bitter, decidedly green dimension that makes the opening feel more botanical than commercial. The heart introduces Jasmine and Tuberose as the floral weight, adding richness without turning the fragrance into a traditional white floral. Spicy Notes pulse beneath the surface, keeping the floral elements from feeling too delicate. By the third hour, Fig Milk emerges, introducing the lactonic creaminess that defines the drydown. Fig Wood and Woody Notes provide the structural backbone while Musk and Sandalwood extend the base into something warm and long-lasting.
Cultural impact
Adam & Eve's Dress occupies a specific corner of niche perfumery: the fig fragrance. These interpretations have become known for capturing different facets of the fig, its green leaf, its creamy fruit, its woody branches. What sets this one apart is its concentration and completeness, capturing the branch, the leaf, the milk, and the wood, not just the fruit. It's part of the Love & Passion Collection, which signals the house's intent: emotional, expressive, full-bodied work for people who want a fragrance that speaks first and explains itself later.
