The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Omicron arrives as part of the Luna Star collection, Tiziana Terenzi's celestial series where each fragrance maps to a point in the night sky. Five citrus oils open the composition in unison, each pulled from a different corner of Italy, unified by Bulgarian rose absolute to keep the brightness from becoming sharp. The citrus burst hits immediately, zesty, almost effervescent, with the rose tempering any sharpness into something rounder and more aromatic. From there, the heart shifts toward gourmand territory without crossing into sweetness. The real staying power emerges in the drydown, where deeper notes linger and evolve, creating a pull that's hard to resist.
The pyramid contains an unusual material in the base: ambergris. In most contemporary fragrances, it reads as a general 'marine' or 'salty' quality, something soft and ambient. The coconut water note, sourced from Sri Lanka, performs a similar function in the heart: tropical freshness that reads as skin-warm rather than sunscreen. These are materials chosen to blur the line between fragrance and the warmth beneath it.
The evolution
The opening arrives as a controlled deluge of citrus. Lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, orange, each distinct, all speaking at once. The Bulgarian rose sits beneath the brightness, keeping the top phase aromatic rather than sugary. This first hour reads as outdoor, effervescent, slightly stern. Then the hand-off begins. Peach softens the edges. Coconut water introduces humidity. Jasmine and hazelnut arrive together, turning the composition velvety. The citrus doesn't disappear, it recedes, becoming an undertone rather than a lead. By the third hour, cedar and birch define the woody structure, smoke threading through the drydown. Vanilla anchors everything that follows. The final stage is ambergris and vanilla, close and warm, the kind of scent that clings to fabric overnight.
Cultural impact
Tiziana Terenzi emerged from a family tradition of candlemaking in Cattolica, Italy, where aromatic knowledge was passed down before the house shifted to haute parfumerie under Paolo Terenzi. The brand occupies a distinctive position in niche perfumery by maintaining a house perfumer model rather than the industry standard of external collaborations. Omicron represents the Luna Star collection's move toward higher concentration and theatrical expression within that house philosophy.
