The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Homem Neo arrived in 2022 from a collaboration between Verônica Kato, Antoine Maisondieu, and Christophe Raynaud. The name itself is the statement: Neo suggests something new, modern, current. But the execution stays grounded. The fragrance opens with a bright citrus and spice combination that feels dynamic and inviting, immediately capturing attention without overwhelming. As it develops, an unusual sweetness emerges in the heart that adds unexpected complexity to the composition. The warm, woody base lingers without ever becoming heavy or suffocating, providing lasting presence that feels natural rather than forced. The overall effect is confident without being loud, natural without being dull, striking a balance that feels both contemporary and timeless.
What makes Homem Neo work is the cashmeran. That synthetic wood molecule creates a soft, plush quality in the heart that makes the cedar and guaiac wood feel warm rather than sharp. Copaiba balsam adds a honey-like sweetness with faint vanilla undertones, contributing a distinctive character that sets this fragrance apart. The moss in the base is the tell: it gives the drydown an earthy, slightly wild quality that keeps the tonka and vanilla from becoming too polished.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and immediate. Black pepper, pink pepper, cardamom, and nutmeg arrive together, citrus-lit by bergamot and grapefruit. The spices feel almost effervescent at first, sharp, then softening as the citrus kicks in. Pataqueira adds an unusual note here: resinous, slightly medicinal, and distinctly different from standard masculine fragrance elements. The heart arrives within minutes. Cashmeran wraps the woods in something soft and warm, like cashmere. Guaiac wood brings a creamy, slightly smoky quality. Copaiba balsam adds its honey-vanilla sweetness. Vetiver grounds everything with an earthy, slightly smoky character. By the drydown, the fragrance has settled into its most intimate register. Amber and musk carry the tonka bean's sweet, tobacco-like warmth. Vanilla adds cream. Coumarin brings that hay-like sweetness.
Cultural impact
Homem Neo represents Natura's continued expansion into premium masculine perfumery, building on the brand's long history of Brazilian-inspired fragrances. The 2022 launch brought attention to copaiba balsam and pataqueira as signature ingredients, highlighting the biodiversity of the Amazon and Pantanal regions. Natura has long championed sustainable sourcing and social commerce through its direct sales model, and Homem Neo continues this tradition by featuring ingredients that support Brazilian communities.
