The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Krizia launched Spazio Krizia Uomo in 1993, extending the house's fragrance portfolio into a new dimension of masculine energy. By this point the label had already built a name in Italian ready-to-wear, and the move into men's scent felt like a natural step rather than a brand extension exercise. The result was a green-woody composition that sat comfortably beside the house's growing ready-to-wear reputation, never shouting, always composed. The fragrance carries that signature green-woody architecture: herbs and citrus up top, oakmoss and sandalwood anchoring the base, with violet threading through to keep things cool. The bottle was designed by Catherine Krunas of Atelier Dinand, and its clean, architectural lines match the restraint of the juice inside.
What makes Spazio Krizia Uomo structurally interesting is the tension between its green-aromatic opening and its traditional chypre-adjacent base. The coriander, basil, and violet top notes suggest brightness and lift, almost Mediterranean sunshine. But the drydown of oakmoss, sandalwood, and tonka bean pulls the composition firmly into classic territory, that mossy backbone sitting at the core of the fragrance's identity. The nutmeg flower (mace) in the heart adds a subtle warmth without tipping into spiciness, keeping the middle phase cool and composed.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are all lift: bergamot, lemon, coriander, and a green-violet edge that reads almost herbal, like crushed leaves between fingers. The basil and neroli keep the opening from going sharp, adding a floral roundness that softens the citrus. Then the violet does something unexpected, lending a powdery coolness that carries into the heart. By the 30-minute mark, the heart opens into geranium, jasmine, lily of the valley, and orris root, with nutmeg flower threading a quiet warmth underneath. The florals here are restrained, not bouquet-style. They read more as texture than as presence, a clean coolness that bridges the bright opening to the grounded base. The geranium provides a green-rosy lift that echoes the opening, while orris root adds a powdery, almost suede-like quality.
Cultural impact
Spazio Krizia Uomo sits as a distinctive example of the green-woody masculine, built around oakmoss and herbal complexity rather than the sweeter aquatic directions that shaped much of 1990s men's fragrance. Its current rarity and discontinued status have made it a quiet collector's piece, appreciated by those who seek out older compositions with mossy, grounded bases. The fragrance is often mentioned alongside other green-leaning woody scents: Rochas Man, Gucci Nobile, and Kenzo Homme Boisée all share that herbal-mossy character, each exploring different facets of the green-woody space.
