The beginning
The number is an address. 24, Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and from that name a perfume was born. The original 24 Faubourg debuted as a tribute to a Parisian street and the world it contained, and this 2015 edition reimagines the composition in a special collector's bottle, Edition Numéro 24. The bottle itself carries that legacy forward, a numbered vessel that signals its place in a longer lineage. To wear it is to carry something of that address with you, the association of a storied quarter made portable, private, and personal. Hermès has long understood that a name can do as much work as a note, and here the name does nearly all of it.
The composition reads as a study in white floral density. Gardenia, jasmine, orange blossom, and iris form a quartet that leans solar rather than green, with hyacinth and ylang-ylang adding a peppery brightness to the opening. The white florals feel generous rather than restrained, layered until they achieve something close to weight. What gives the composition its particular architecture is the base: amber, sandalwood, and vanilla give the florals a cushioned landing rather than a dry one.
