Why it exists.
The beginning
Woody Lavender arrived in 2020, one of the early compositions from Habibi NY. The scent sits at a deliberate crossroads, taking the most familiar, almost overexposed note in Western masculine perfumery and rebuilding it into something denser and more personal. The lavender here does not announce itself with the usual herbal sharpness. Instead it folds into a composition loaded with clove, nutmeg, and cardamom in the heart, a thread of coffee running alongside honeyed tobacco, and a base of cedarwood, sandalwood, patchouli, oud, suede, and amber that grounds the whole thing in warmth. The result reads as classic from across a room but more complicated up close, the kind of fragrance that rewards a second and third wearing as new details surface each time.
The composition is dense on purpose. The heart is loaded with clove, nutmeg, cardamom, coffee, and a thread of honeyed tobacco that shifts the entire gravity of the scent. Then the base opens up further, cedarwood, sandalwood, patchouli, oud, suede, amber, a sugared rock note, and saffron layered into moss and vetiver. The materials work against each other in interesting ways. The clove and nutmeg bring a dry, almost peppery heat, while the coffee adds a roasted bitterness that catches the cardamom just enough to keep it from going sweet.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are bright and almost surprising. Grapefruit, bergamot, and lemon cut through sharp and clean, pear and blackcurrant adding a sweetened juiciness underneath. Green notes flicker at the edges. Within twenty minutes, the lavender shows up, but it does not arrive alone. Clary sage, clove, and nutmeg crowd in, cardamom lifts everything just slightly, and a dark thread of coffee weaves through alongside honeyed tobacco. The scent starts to feel heavier, warmer, as the spices bloom. By the end of the first hour, the woods have fully taken the wheel. Cedarwood, sandalwood, and a smoked wood accord settle into the skin, suede softens the edges, and amber with vanilla gives the drydown a low, golden warmth that lingers well into the evening.

Woody Lavender sits in a strange and interesting place. It draws on the conventions of masculine perfumery but rebuilds them with dense, sweet-leaning materials drawn from Eastern fragrance tradition, layering oud, saffron, honeyed tobacco, and sugared notes into a structure that usually relies on cleaner, more restrained elements. That combination produces a scent that reads as familiar in outline but unfamiliar in detail, something that registers as classic from across a room and reveals new textures the closer you get.
