The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bronze Goddess Capri was inspired by the allure of the Italian island that shares its name. In 2012 the house asked Harry Frémont to bottle that feeling, a place where cliffs meet turquoise water and the air carries the warmth of the Mediterranean sun. The result is a summer-only Eau Fraîche that captures coastal brightness with an unexpected depth. Harry Frémont approached the brief by opening with sparkling citrus notes of mandarin orange and petitgrain, grounding them with the tartness of blackcurrant to evoke the island's dramatic terrain meeting the sea.
The note selection reflects a philosophy of Mediterranean warmth meeting Italian sophistication. Mandarin orange and blackcurrant capture the island's vibrant energy, while jasmine and peony evoke the lush gardens that cascade down the cliffs. The vanilla and amber drydown represents the golden light that bathes Capri at sunset. Patchouli grounds this brightness with an earthy counterpoint, preventing the fragrance from becoming purely sunny and adding complexity that rewards those who lean in close.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with an effervescent citrus burst of mandarin orange, its bright juice softened by the woody-green character of petitg rain. Blackcurrant weaves through this opening, adding a dark berry tension that keeps things interesting. As the top notes recede, the heart reveals itself through jasmine, its creamy white-floral richness playing against the clean, almost soapy freshness of lily of the valley. Peony adds a rounded, rosy softness that bridges the transition to the base. The drydown unfolds as a warm amber-vanilla haze, with musk providing Intimate closeness and patchouli anchoring the composition with its earthy, slightly bitter woodiness. This evolution mirrors a day on Capri, moving from the intensity of midday sun to the golden glow of evening.
Cultural impact
Since its 2012 debut, Bronze Goddess Capri has drawn attention for its bright, beach‑ready profile among fragrance enthusiasts. Its limited‑edition status and Mediterranean character offer a sensory escape, evoking sun‑soaked terraces and salty breezes. The scent brings a touch of coastal warmth to everyday moments, making it a distinctive choice for those seeking a touch of summer any time of year.
