The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Roja Dove turned his attention to tuberose with singular focus. The challenge was not restraint, it was commitment. He wanted to capture the flower at its most opulent, to allow its creamy petals and intoxicating nectar to unfold without apology. The answer arrived in 2016 with Tuberose pour Femme. This was not the genteel tuberose of discretion. It was the bloom at full heat, the flower Roja Dove always wanted to work with, given the space to be exactly what it is. The fragrance opens with a lush, enveloping wave of white petals, each one glistening with warmth. There is a richness here that feels almost tangible, the kind of tuberose that demands attention without shouting, that fills a room simply by existing.
The heart holds Grasse jasmine alongside orange blossom, two of the most materially rich white florals in perfumery, together in the same sentence. Around them, peach and plum add a textural sweetness that keeps the tuberose from reading as sharp or indolic. The fruit is not decoration. It changes the density of the composition, making what could have been a blunt white floral into something with unexpected softness underneath the power. This is the tuberose that remembers it grew from a stem, not just the extract.
The evolution
A bright citrus opening arrives first. Bergamot, petitgrain, and mandarin offer clean, clear brightness, a moment of clarity before the white florals emerge. Then the tuberose arrives. Not a whisper. Not a suggestion. The actual flower, creamy and slightly animalic, pushes through peach and orange blossom with complete authority. It becomes the heart of the composition, commanding the scent landscape entirely. As the minutes pass, the florals begin to soften and shift, revealing deeper layers beneath. The drydown arrives quietly. Vanilla and cinnamon warm against the skin, musk holding everything close. What began as an assertive floral statement settles into something more intimate, more personal, lingering on the skin as a soft, warm memory of the scent you wore.
Cultural impact
Tuberose pour Femme makes a statement in a landscape often defined by more subtle florals, presenting the flower as something that belongs on skin that wants to be noticed. The fragrance stands apart from conventions that suggest tuberose should always play a supporting role. Its opulent sensibility brings genuine weight and presence to a flower that rewards compositions willing to treat it with the seriousness it deserves. The 2016 release marked a moment when tuberose was given room to exist as the true protagonist it had always had the potential to be.
