The beginning
Part of The Art Collection, Serenity Blend arrived as Roja Dove's answer to fragrance that asks nothing of you, only that you slow down. Where other compositions demand attention, this one offers presence. The brief was simple: capture the ritual of stillness, the luxury of an unhurried moment, and translate it into something you can wear. The result is a tea-inspired floral chypré that doesn't announce itself so much as accompany you through the day, unhurried and intimate from first spray to final fade.
The key to Serenity Blend's unusual character lies in the base: mate and black tea together create a bitter, slightly grassy foundation that sets it apart from conventional tea fragrances. Mate brings an astringent, almost yerba-forward quality, while black tea contributes tannin structure and depth. This isn't the skin-deep green tea of mass-market fragrances, it's the actual substance of the plant, honored rather than simplified. Cashmere wood and sandalwood then wrap this foundation in softness, creating a texture that reads as fabric rather than perfume.
The evolution
The opening arrives cool and bright, citrus and litsea cubeba lifted by bergamot and lemon, immediately softened by the green, slightly bitter bite of tea. Jasmine sambac follows within minutes, its creaminess tempering the citrus before the floral heart fully opens. For the first hour, the composition lives in chamomile, gardenia, and magnolia, lush, soft, a little heady, with violet adding powdery depth and rhubarb a subtle vegetal edge. Then the hand-off: florals recede and the base asserts itself. Mate and black tea form the spine now, with ginger and cardamom adding warmth and spice. Sandalwood and cashmere wood create a creamy, textured finish that reads almost as fabric. Vanilla and tonka bean linger longest, honeyed and intimate, holding close for hours after the citrus and florals have faded. This is a fragrance that stays with you, not because it projects, it doesn't, but because it settles into skin and stays.
