Guidance 46 emerged from a brief Quentin Bisch received to reinterpret the house's signature rose-frankincense pairing within the Exceptional Extraits line. The extrait format, packing 46% perfume oil, gave the perfumer ample room to amplify the contrast between bright fruit and deep resin that defines Amouage's identity.
Amouage's rose-frankincense pairing has long been a house signature, but Guidance 46 recontextualizes it. The pear and hazelnut opening subverts expectations, offering a fruity-nutty brightness before rose water and bitter almond pull the composition toward its aromatic roots. Frankincense threads through from the start, while osmanthus and saffron deepen the floral heart with apricot and spice. The drydown's blend of Akigalawood, Georgywood, and ambergris grounds the rose in a warm, animalic-woody base that feels distinctly Omani in its resinous sensibility. The evolution
The fragrance opens with an unexpected play of sweetness and nuttiness: pear and hazelnut feel almost edible, softened by rose water and bitter almond. Frankincense adds quiet incense-like depth while pink pepper provides a fleeting sparkle. As the top notes fade, the osmanthus-rose heart emerges with honeyed, apricot-kissed florals, jasmine adding creamy volume. Saffron subtly shifts the tone toward warmth and spice.
