The top accord is where My Sir earns its reputation. Four citrus materials, bergamot, grapefruit, ginger, rhubarb, arrive simultaneously. The bergamot is clean. The grapefruit is tart. The ginger adds spice without fire. The rhubarb is the wild card: green, slightly bitter, distinctly vegetal. Most fresh fragrances pick one citrus and commit. Maffei layered all four, creating an opening that reads as bright and complex. The lavender heart that follows is where most fragrances lose their audience.

The evolution

My Sir unfolds across six to eight hours on skin, starting with a tart citrus assault that announces itself without apology. Grapefruit and bergamot hit first, then ginger cuts through with clean heat. The rhubarb, green, slightly bitter, threads through the opening like a quiet undercurrent, keeping the citrus from reading as sweet. At its heart, lavender takes over as the structural anchor. Black pepper and geranium lift it slightly, adding a dry floral warmth. The transition is deliberate, that opening was just the announcement; the real composition is beginning. In the drydown, patchouli and black amber take over completely. The sharp edges soften into something warm and close.
