The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
For Me arrived in 2019 as Roccobarocco's statement on what it means to wear white florals with Italian confidence. The house, built on bold runway aesthetics since 1975, has always understood that scent is not a footnote to style, it is style. This fragrance came together as a deliberate counter to the loud, indolic tuberose interpretations that dominate the category. Instead of heat, the brief called for restraint. Instead of announcement, presence. The result is a composition that lets the wearer assert themselves without needing the room to know about it.
What makes For Me structurally interesting is the heart. Five white florals, tuberose, jasmine, cyclamen, iris, and narcissus, could easily become a wall of sweetness. Instead, the iris does something unexpected: it introduces a powdery, almost talc-like quality that lifts the tuberose away from the typical tropical heaviness. Narcissus brings a green, slightly narcotic edge that keeps the florals grounded. The result is a white floral heart that reads as cool rather than warm, elegant rather than opulent. It's the kind of complexity that rewards attention, the florals don't simply sit on top of each other, they take turns.
The evolution
The opening is quick and bright, bitter orange arrives first, sharp and citrusy, followed immediately by plant sap that adds a green, almost medicinal freshness. The two notes don't blend so much as take turns leading. Within the first hour, the green begins to recede as the white florals take over. Tuberose dominates the transition, but jasmine and cyclamen are present, creating a floral heart that is simultaneously sweet and cool. Iris keeps things powdery. The drydown arrives quietly, sandalwood, musk, and white amber settling close to the skin. The white amber adds a subtle animalic warmth that prevents the base from feeling sterile. The drydown has a loyal following, with enthusiasts noting it clings close to the skin and can reappear on fabric even after a full day's wear.
Cultural impact
For Me landed in 2019 as part of Roccobarocco's ongoing fragrance portfolio, joining a line that spans from the woody Vetiver (1993) to the recent Platinum Dream (2023). The house is known for bold, geometric bottle designs with gold embossing, a visual language that extends across their fragrance line. While cultural reception data is limited, the fragrance's moderate sillage and powdery character position it as a daywear option for those who prefer intimacy over projection.
