The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
When a fragrance carries the brand's own name, the question shifts from what it does to what it represents. Nabeel by Nabeel arrived in 2015 as a signature statement from a house that has been working in the UAE since 1969, crafting Arabian fragrance with an extensive catalogue behind it. The composition refuses to pick a side. It is floral enough for someone who reaches for rose, woody enough for someone who lives in oud, and animalic enough to feel lived in. The rose opens soft and dewy before the honey and saffron warm it into something denser, a sweetness that does not shout. The heart carries jasmine, ylang-ylang, and a touch of marigold that adds a pollen-like richness without tipping into soap.
What makes Nabeel by Nabeel interesting is how it pulls so many directions without losing its center. The white floral heart of rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang gives it a softness that feels immediately wearable, while the cardamom, saffron, and sage in the middle add an aromatic warmth that keeps the florals from drifting into something purely feminine. The oakmoss, leather, patchouli, and animalic base grounds the whole thing with a chypre sensibility, dry and textured, almost architectural.
The evolution
The opening belongs to saffron and bergamot, a sharp gold-tinged heat that announces itself across a room. Rose and jasmine follow fast, sweet but not soapy, warmed by honey and a flicker of marigold. The florals hold their shape for the first stretch, generous and full, before the composition begins to thicken. Cashmere wood, cedar, and ylang-ylang take over the texture, and the animalic note begins to surface, a warm musky undertone that smells like skin after movement, not perfume. As the hours pass, the base dominates. Oakmoss dries the sweetness out. Leather comes through dry and worn-in, never new. Patchouli and vetiver anchor the whole thing down with an earthy, almost smoky weight. White musk and amber hold the warmth through the late drydown, keeping the composition close to the body rather than letting it project.
Cultural impact
Nabeel by Nabeel, launched in 2015, sits at an interesting crossroads in the Arabian perfume market. The house, founded in 1969 in the UAE, built a reputation around mukhallat oils, and this self-titled release carried that identity into a new format. Within Dubai's fragrance community, the composition earned attention for blending an animalic base that nods to classical Arabian perfumery with a rose-saffron-honey opening that reads as accessible to international noses. The combination of familiar Gulf signatures with broader EDP appeal made it a talking point among collectors and casual buyers alike.
