The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Irth arrived in 2023 as part of Nabeel's Master Perfumer Collection, a line built for depth over decoration. The brief, if there was one, seems to have been: take the richness of Gulf perfumery tradition and make it wear on skin, not just in bottles. The name itself, Irth, carries weight in Arabic perfumery circles, connected to heritage and generational knowledge, the idea that scent passes down as much as it is created. This fragrance wasn't designed to introduce the brand to new audiences. It was built for those who already know how Nabeel works and wanted more of it, done at scale and with intention.
What makes Irth distinctive is the sheer density of its construction. Eighteen top notes, twelve heart materials, eighteen base elements, the pyramid isn't layered, it's stacked. Most fragrances use restraint as a virtue. This one uses abundance. The damask rose appears twice, threading through like a structural element rather than a decorative one. The oud in the heart isn't a cameo, it carries weight, sits alongside sandalwood and cedar rather than above them. And the civet in the base, combined with labdanum and ambergris, creates a warmth that doesn't rely on vanilla alone to deliver it.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, bergamot and apple arrive first, bright and citrus-clean. Within five minutes, the peach and strawberry emerge, pressing the sweetness forward while cinnamon and cardamom add warmth underneath. The dried fruits deepen the texture rather than the sweetness, giving the top a jammy, almost resinous quality. By the second hour, the rose has claimed the space, pulling the composition from fruity-spicy into floral-territorial. Jasmine and lily of the valley soften what could have been heavy, while the oud and saffron anchor everything to the base. At hour four, the drydown settles: white musk, vanilla, and leather, with incense and smoke threading through like a memory of the opening's warmth. Eight to ten hours later, on most skin, the ambergris and patchouli are still present, intimate, close, and decidedly animalic.
Cultural impact
Part of the Master Perfumer Collection, Irth positions itself as an accessible alternative to higher-priced regional competitors, particularly those in the Spirit of Dubai line. The fragrance fills a specific gap: for those who want the depth and complexity of Gulf-inspired oriental compositions without the investment required by niche houses. The strong sillage and longevity ratings suggest a fragrance designed for presence rather than subtlety, a choice that appeals to a specific wearer's identity rather than general versatility.
