The beginning
Lancôme's Trésor lineage stretches back to 1990, when the original became one of the most beloved feminine fragrances in history. La Nuit Trésor arrived in 2015 as its nighttime counterpart, a gourmand aphrodisiac built on vanilla and rose. Shortly after, Christophe Raynaud and Amandine Clerc-Marie introduced Caresse, the softer, fresher interpretation. Where the original leaned into warmth and depth, Caresse opens brighter, breathes easier, and wears closer to the skin. The vanilla stays creamy and restrained, never tipping into excess, while the rose notes feel more transparent than in the darker flank. There's a gentle praline sweetness that emerges as the minutes pass, harmonizing with the florals rather than competing with them.
The composition follows a familiar structure. Fruity opening, floral heart, warm base. Raspberry and lychee keep the top from disappearing too quickly. The Damask rose holds the center with presence, its rich petals lending a timeless femininity. The drydown doesn't arrive so much as settle, patchouli and vanilla wrapping together, the tonka bean adding that characteristic coumarin warmth, orchid and white musk softening everything into something that stays close to the skin for hours.
