The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alexandra arrived in 2016 from Gritti, a brand whose catalogue reads as a study in bold Italian composition, with sources noting its identity through the tagline "Bold Italian Luxury Scents from Venice." The 2016 launch placed it within a specific moment for the house, a period where the lineup balanced experimental boldness with more wearable, polished offerings. Alexandra sits among the brand's explorations of fruit, floral, and gourmand territory, a composition that gathers a generous cast of notes and lets them converse openly on skin rather than retreating into minimalism.
The composition opens with a wide, sunlit entrance, stacking four fruits (pear, bergamot, mandarin, peach) alongside davana and pink grapefruit. The result is bright and juicy, the kind of opening that could easily collapse into simple sweetness if left unattended. What prevents that collapse is the floral heart, where orange blossom, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and Damask rose give the fruit something to lean against.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong almost entirely to the fruit. Pear reads ripe, almost bruised at the edges, while mandarin and pink grapefruit lift it with bright, juicy acidity. The davana adds an herbal, slightly liqueur-like undertone that keeps the sweetness from cloying. Around the twenty-minute mark, the florals take over. Orange blossom leads, creamy and sunlit, followed by jasmine's indolic warmth and ylang-ylang's banana-skin richness. Damask rose threads through everything, adding a wine-dark depth that signals where this is headed. By the two-hour mark, the fruit is a memory. The drydown runs long, dominated by vanilla, cashmere wood, and amber, with musk softening the edges and saffron lending a dry, leathery warmth. Patchouli and tonka hold underneath, barely detectable but essential.
Cultural impact
Alexandra occupies a specific position within the fruity-floral category: a composition with real structural weight, layered enough to hold attention well past its opening. Wearers gravitate toward it for that balance, the romantic sweetness of the fruit and florals paired with a base that has genuine depth and warmth. The fragrance appeals to anyone who wants approachability without simplicity, the kind of scent that reads charming at first spray but reveals more complexity the longer it stays on skin.
