The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Super Nova did not arrive from market research. It arrived from a white dwarf in a Type Ia supernova, where thermonuclear explosions scatter gold, silver, iron, and stone across the void. Luca Gritti took that image literally, the chaos-to-order of stellar death, and asked what it would smell like to be born from that fire. The answer is mineral notes struck like flint, ozone filling the vacuum, and metallic warmth settling like the residue of something ancient and impossibly far away. Gritti has never followed convention, and Super Nova is proof of that instinct translated into liquid form.
Artemisia and bell pepper anchor the opening, giving it a strange green-herbal character that is rarely found in this space. Gunpowder and oud form the heart's tension, a pairing that is dark, resinous, and charged. Cashmeran and ambergris in the drydown complete the arc from stellar chaos to structured warmth, the latter lending a marine-animalic quality that feels both ancient and otherworldly. Gritti's Venetian roots show in the composition's sense of drama and restraint, the same tension that defines the city's canals, its crumbling palazzos, its refusal to be ordinary. Super Nova is not for everyone. It is for those who understand that beauty can arrive violently and still be worth holding.
The evolution
The scent evolves like the aftermath of an explosion, slow and deliberate. Mineral notes and artemisia create an opening burst that is clean and sharp, green bell pepper adding an unexpected vegetable brightness that fades into the mineral clarity. As the heart develops, ozonic notes expand outward into something atmospheric and charged, gunpowder adding dark tension and oud bringing its dark resinous weight into focus. The drydown is where Super Nova becomes something rare. Metallic notes come alive on the skin, shimmering with cold precision, while cashmeran wraps that metallic edge in softness and ambergris delivers a luminous, animalic depth that feels weightless. The fragrance ends with the quiet afterglow of a star that burned once and is still, somehow, present.
Cultural impact
Super Nova occupies a distinctive position within the mineral-aquatic family, offering something that stands apart from conventional aquatic fragrances. The scent evokes the presence of someone who commands attention without overt announcement, carrying an understated confidence that lingers in a room. It shares certain atmospheric qualities with landmark niche releases, yet its gunpowder-oud combination pushes into more assertive territory. Strong projection and impressive longevity make this a compelling choice for evening occasions and cooler weather, when the fragrance's deeper notes have room to unfold fully.
