The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Beyond The Wall was born from Luca Gritti's desire to bridge two perfume worlds. Middle Eastern fragrances are known for their richness, their comfort, the way they wrap around you like a second skin. European perfumery offers precision, structure, a certain clarity that keeps things from getting too heavy. The wall is the line between them, and this fragrance lives exactly on that line.
What makes this work is the artemisia. It's not a typical bridge material, it's sharp, almost medicinal, the kind of note that makes you pause. But paired with milk and ginger, it becomes the hinge rather than the obstacle. The cream softens the green bite, the ginger adds warmth, and the artemisia keeps everything honest. It's the difference between a fragrance that smells expensive and one that smells like it belongs to you.
The evolution
The opening hits clean and bright, artemisia and ginger working together to create an herbal but not bitter, spicy but not aggressive impression. Violet adds a soft powdery sweetness that keeps the blend from veering too sharp, giving the first moments a gentle lift. This initial burst serves as the fragrance's calling card, a crisp, warm signature that registers instantly. As the scent settles, black tea steps in, and the composition shifts toward a quiet depth. The tea brings an aromatic quality that slows the pace, like a bright morning mellowing into a calm afternoon. The shift is subtle, not a dramatic turn, but a change in light that feels familiar yet fresh. Milk and iris arrive together, and for the next few hours the dominant impression is soft, creamy, powdery without any dusty edge.
Cultural impact
Launched in 2022, Beyond The Wall sits within the Ivy collection. The fragrance appeals to wearers who want the richness of Middle Eastern style but with the clarity and structure of European perfumery. Its blend opens with a bright, aromatic punch, then settles into a smooth, warm heart that feels both opulent and refined. The scent feels at home in city streets as much as in quieter moments, offering a subtle yet confident presence that invites curiosity without demanding attention.
