The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Luca Gritti had already told the story of Tutù once, as an Extrait de Parfum, rich and concentrated, a limited edition that found its audience. But there was another version waiting to be written. The White Collection needed its own chapter, one that kept the ballerina's spirit but softened the edges. Tutù Blanc arrived in 2020 as that reimagining: the same character, refracted through a lighter lens, literally filled with light. The name says it all, tutù, the airy skirt of a dancer, reimagined in white.
What makes Tutù Blanc distinctive is how it handles contrast. The top notes arrive like champagne bubbles, fizzy, bright, effervescent, with blackcurrant and grapefruit cutting through before the florals arrive. That burst of pink champagne is unusual; it gives the opening a celebratory quality without tipping into heaviness. Then the powdery florals take over: heliotrope brings its almond-cherry softness, jasmine adds warmth, and rose ties everything together with classic elegance. The base is where the gourmand heart lives, vanilla and raspberry, musk and amber. It's the kind of combination that smells like something you'd want to eat.
The evolution
The opening is a bright, fizzy burst of pink champagne and blackcurrant that feels like the moment before a performance begins. Then the florals arrive. Heliotrope and jasmine step in, dusting the composition in powdery softness. The rose doesn't dominate; it weaves through, keeping things graceful. As the top notes soften, the base takes over. Vanilla and musk emerge, warm, intimate, close to the skin. A quiet sweetness lingers, wrapping around you in soft layers that feel inviting rather than overwhelming. The composition maintains its balance throughout, never tipping too far into sweetness or heaviness. What strikes you most is how the fragrance evolves on the skin, each note taking its turn without fanfare.
Cultural impact
Tutù Blanc occupies a specific space in the Gritti catalogue: the softer, more wearable reinterpretation of a successful Extrait. It sits alongside other feminine, powdery florals in the White Collection, appealing to those who want the elegance of the original without the concentration. The ballerina imagery resonates with wearers who see fragrance as performance, not loud, but intentional.
